Check Contents of Kit

  • Factory assembled & sealed shower filter kit
  • Installation & warranty booklet

Note: All packaging, including the entire shower filter and cartridge assembly, is 100% recyclable.

Cut Protective Plastic

  • Using a pair of scissors, carefully remove the shower filter from its protective plastic enclosure

Note: Shower filters and replacement cartridges have an indefinite shelf life when sealed inside this vacuum sealed enclosure.

Remove Vitamin Cartridge

  • Unscrew vitamin cartridge from the upper filter housing assembly using a clockwise twisting motion

Verify Correct O-Ring Placement

  • The rubber o-ring gasket must be seated properly in its groove to ensure leak-free operation

Note: Also check the gasket located at the shower filter connection swivel nut to be sure it's seated correctly before proceeding with the installation.

Prepare vitamin Cartridge For Use

  • Peel, remove & discard the factory installed label from the vitamin cartridge lid
  • This exposes the vitamin feed apertures that allow for the normal operation of the shower filter once water begins to flow through the shower filter

Note: Failure to remove this label will prevent the shower filter from releasing vitamin solution into the passing water stream and could distort or even damage the o-ring gasket.

THIS IS CRITICAL! PLEASE DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP

Reassemble Shower Filter

  • Attach the vitamin cartridge to the upper filter housing assembly using a counterclockwise twisting motion
  • Apply sufficient torque during this step to create a watertight seal between the two halves of the shower filter kit

Prepare For Installation

  • Remove existing shower head or hand held shower fixture assembly from shower arm
  • Thoroughly clean shower arm threads
  • Check inside of shower arm for sludge & clean if required
  • Inspect shower head gasket for damage and replace if necessary

Note: The image in Fig. 7 features our shower control valve mounted directly to the shower arm. Although not required, the use of a shower control valve is highly recommended to ensure a smooth, problem free installation. If your shower arm threads are worn or corroded with age, a permanently mounted shower control valve can prevent further damage.

Install Shower Filter

  • Hold shower filter assembly to shower arm, carefully aligning the threads, and twist the swivel nut in a clockwise direction until hand tight
  • Pay close attention to thread alignment during this step. Cross threading the shower filter to the shower arm may damage the unit.
  • Optional: A pair of pliers or an adjustable wrench may be used to continue tightening the swivel nut for an additional 1/4 - 1/2 turn.
  • DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN: Over tightening with a tool may damage the shower filter
  • You may now arrange the shower filter to your desired orientation

Note: In most cases, hand tightening should be sufficient to ensure leak free operation. This shower filter was designed to allow the unit to swivel after it has been installed to allow easier access behind the unit and to simplify the vitamin cartridge exchange procedure. This swivel action may be modified by tightening or loosening the shower arm attachment hex nut at any time.

A quick method to check for the appropriate amount of applied torque is to simply rotate the entire shower filter 90 degrees and release it. A properly installed shower filter will remain in that position without any outside assistance. Then simply rotate back to your desired position before using.

Prepare For Use

  • Reinstall existing/new shower head to the output side of the shower filter
  • With hand held shower fixtures, it is recommended to install the bracket/diverter assembly directly to the front of the shower filter as well
  • Hand tighten the shower head to the shower filter using a clockwise twisting motion until firmly attached

Note: Be sure to double check the condition and placement of the gasket that is included with your shower head. Worn or torn shower head gaskets may cause leaking and reduced overall water pressure and performance.

Pressurize Shower Filter

  • Turn on water and let run for 1-2 minutes to fully pressurize the vitamin cartridge
  • Check for leaks at the shower arm, vitamin cartridge attachment point and shower head attachment point
  • If leaks are found, turn off water and re tighten problem areas
  • Hand tools may be used only at the shower arm connection point and shower head connection point. No more than an additional 1/2 turn with any hand tool is recommended.
  • Congratulations! Your brand new shower filter may be used & enjoyed immediately!

Note: The water may appear cloudy during the initial flush out stage. This is to be considered normal as the shower filter must adjusts to your water pressure to find the perfect ratio of vitamin to water. It may take several uses before the shower filter completes this stage. Cloudy water is an indication of slightly higher concentrations of Vitamin C.

VshowerUSA Shower Filter & Replacement Cartridge Troubleshooting Guide

(This section will be updated periodically as customer feedback arrives)

Issue 1:

The shower filter leaks where the vitamin cartridge meets the upper filter housing assembly.

Solution:

Unscrew and remove the vitamin cartridge from the upper filter housing assembly. Verify the red label has been removed from the top of the vitamin cartridge. Check to see if the o-ring gasket is in good condition and is properly seated into its groove. Reassemble the vitamin cartridge to the upper filter housing assembly. Also be sure to check that the leak is indeed coming from this location. A drip originating from the shower filter attachment point at the shower arm can run down the side of the unit and only appear to leaking here.

Issue 2:

The shower filter swivel nut is difficult to align and attach to the shower arm threads.

Solution:

Thoroughly clean the threads on the shower arm and check for corrosion or excessive wear. A shower control valve installed with Teflon plumbers tape is highly recommended to ease shower filter installation and to help protect the shower arm's threads from further damage. Our shower control valves are compatible with all modern shower fixtures that conform to the 1/2" N.P.T. standard. Teflon is generally not required between the shower filter and shower control valve although may be used if leaking continues to occur.

Issue 3:

When I first turn on the shower the water appears cloudy or milky in appearance.

Solution:

This is completely normal and should be considered a part of the shower filter's break in period. The water appears this way because of the large amounts of mineral ascorbates (Vitamin C) we use inside of each vitamin cartridge. This will subside with continued use as the shower filter adjusts to your home's water pressure and flow rate.

Issue 4:

There is an orange or yellow residue buildup on various places on the shower filter itself or the shower head.

Solution:

This is also completely normal and is related to the high amounts of Vitamin C that is released into the shower water during initial installation and use. You may simply rinse the shower filter with your hand held shower head or pour a cup of water directly onto the shower filter to remove the excess Vitamin C. You may also remove the vitamin cartridge from the upper shower filter housing assembly and rinse the entire unit more thoroughly as required.

Little Known Uses For The VshowerUSA Vitamin C Shower Filter

Tip 1:

Do you use a chlorine bleach based cleaner to clean your shower area?

The VshowerUSA vitamin c shower filter is so powerful you can completely neutralize the chlorine bleach and related odors after cleaning by simply using the water from the shower filter. It's usually easier if you have a hand held type fixture to spray down the walls, shower curtain or shower door.

Tip 2:

Do you wash your face or shave in your sink but still want to get the dechlorinating benefits of the VshowerUSA vitamin c shower filter?

Simply fill a container with warm or hot water directly from the shower filter and pour it into your sink. If you add more water from the sink's tap, the Vitamin C will continue to neutralize the chlorine or chloramine found there as well.

Tip 3:

Does your pet have sensitive skin and tend to scratch or itch after bathing?

The VshowerUSA vitamin c shower filter makes the perfect pet washing solution. Your pet's skin will be much less irritated and it's coat will take on a shiny, healthy appearance. Remember, our pets can also be just as sensitive to chlorine and chloramine.
